Rain Could Disrupt Your Mardi Gras Fun This Weekend
(KMDL-FM) The National Weather Service Forecast Office in Lake Charles is offering Mardi Gras revelers in southern Louisiana and across the entire state, for that matter, a heads-up for potential storms this weekend. There does appear to be an outside threat that there could be some severe storms in the state as well.

Not that we're ever big fans of storms on Saturday when so many of us have outdoor plans, but this Saturday, a round of rainfall would put a damper on many communities' Mardi Gras celebrations as Louisiana ramps up into the final weekend before Fat Tuesday.
A weak disturbance is currently moving across the state this morning. That is the reason for the slight chances of showers that we see in the official forecast for South Louisiana. National Weather Service Radar was indicating very light sprinkles across much of southern Louisiana and southeastern Texas during the early morning hours of Wednesday.

What Are The Rain Chances for South Louisiana This Weekend?
Forecasters say that a slight risk of rain will remain in the area through Friday, but by the time Saturday rolls around, there will be significant changes in the forecast. Namely, the threat of rain and thunderstorms will increase dramatically.
As the forecast projections stand now, it looks as if Saturday during the day will be better than Saturday during the late evening and nighttime hours. Two of the reliable forecast models are not in agreement on whether the heavier showers begin on Saturday afternoon or whether they hold off until Saturday night. Regardless, it does look as if Saturday will bring storms to the area.
Is Severe Weather Forecast for South Louisiana This Weekend?
As of now, the Storm Prediction Center has not published a severe storm threat for the region, but looking at models and other indicators, it would not be surprising if at least a marginal threat for severe weather was included in the forecast for Saturday afternoon and evening. With that threat exiting the state on Sunday.
