Maurice Woman Charged in Sunday Shooting of Husband
Police in Vermilion Parish say a 54-year-old woman is in custody following a shooting that took place in Maurice late Sunday afternoon. According to reports, Pamela Richard was booked into the Vermilion Parish Jail and her husband was taken to a local hospital following the incident.
A witness at the scene was reportedly working on an automobile with the victim when he heard a loud pop. When he went around to the other side of the vehicle to investigate he discovered the victim on the ground with a gunshot wound and woman identified as Richard holding a weapon.
Police and EMS were dispatched to the scene in the 1700 block of Roper Road about 4:40 pm. At that time the victim was treated for a gunshot wound at the scene and transported to a local hospital. The victim's injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
Meanwhile, the victim's wife remains in custody and has been charged with attempted first-degree murder in the case.
