Grand Ole Opry member Mel McDaniel died yesterday after a battle with cancer. He's best known for his hits "Louisiana Saturday Night" and "Baby's Got Her Blue Jeans On" and unfortunately for his tumble in 1996 into the Heymann Performing Arts Center's orchestra pit. The fall was devastating and he nearly died. The ensuing years brought several surgeries and ceaseless pain. The Oklahoma native was 68 years old.
