Michael Jackson Did Not Invent the Moonwalk — Visual Proof
This may not be news to a lot of people, but it was news to me to learn that Michael Jackson DID NOT invent the moonwalk.
Hang on, I need to digest that...ok, I'm good now.
Entertainers like Cab Calloway and Bill "Bojangles" Robinson had reportedly been doing it as early as the 1930s, although it was referred to as the "backslide" back then.
Charlie Chaplin even does the moonwalk in his classic 1936 movie "Modern Times". And for some reason, a video of it started blowing the internet over the weekend.
And a dancer named Bill Bailey famously did it at the Apollo Theater in 1955. Here's a video of his moonwalk. (Fast forward to the 2:00 mark.)
