Most of the news about the Miss America Pageant as of late has been more about court proceedings and legal wrangling. For at least the next few days at least some of the news about the pageant will be about the young women who are competing for the iconic crown in Atlantic City New Jersey.

Last night in day two of the preliminary pageant competition  Miss Louisiana Holli Conway shined the brightest as far as the talent competition is concerned. Conway's awesome performance of I Believe made popular by former American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino earned her the top spot in that portion of the pageant.

Miss Virginia, Emili McPhail earned top honors in the on-stage question round for her answer when asked about NFL players kneeling for the National Anthem.

But even as the competition grows closer and closer to crowning a new Miss America over the weekend the legal troubles could be getting worse for organizers of the pageant. A lawsuit was filed yesterday by a law firm that claimed the pageant owed more than $100,000 in unpaid legal services.

That lawsuit is on top of an ongoing disagreement between Cara Mund, the current Miss America, and pageant officials. Mund and several other young women have accused the pageant organizers of being bullies. That is so not a good look for an event that is designed to promote and empower women.

Miss America will be crowned Sunday night in Atlantic City New Jersey.
