Parent Company of Evangeline Downs Pays Over $113,000 On Casino Jackpot

(KMDL-FM) Gulf South gamblers keep ringing the jackpot bell as the parent company of Evangeline Downs Racetrack and Casino in Opelousas, Boyd Gaming, has announced that one of its casino properties has just paid out more than $113,000 on a slot machine jackpot.

In addition to the Opelousas, Louisiana property, Boyd Gaming also operates Treasure Chest Casino in Kenner, Louisiana, Amelia Bell Casino in Amelia, Louisiana, and Delta Downs Racetrack and Casino in Vinton, Louisiana.  All in all, the company owns or operates some 30 gaming and entertainment properties across 10 states.

As you might imagine, slot machines and slot players make up a lot of the "handle" at Boyd Gaming Properties, and it was one of those "one-armed bandits" that paid off big for the slot player who has only been identified as Willie.

Player Spends 7 Minutes, Bets $5 and Wins Over $100,000

Willie told a South Mississippi-based newspaper that he had been playing Lightning Cash High Stakes when his $5 wager returned a progressive Grand Jackpot on the machine. Willie said his total time at this particular machine was about seven minutes when all the symbols fell into place.

The exact amount of Willie's win is reported to be $113,772.20. The jackpot was won at Boyd Gaming's IP  Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi. It marked the 35th jackpot of $100,000 or more won by Mississippi Gulf Coast casino players.

Another Huge Slot Jackpot Was Won on the Following Night

The following night, the 36th jackpot of more than $100,000 was delivered when a player from Destin, Florida, turned a $10 wager on a Buffalo Cash machine into a win of $110,498.78. That big win happened at Beau Rivage in Biloxi.

Earlier this year, a slot player from Opelousas won a $160,000 jackpot playing Triple Dollars. That big win was also recorded at Beau Rivage.

Based on winner statistics provided by the Mississippi Gaming Commission, Beau Rivage appears to be the hottest slot property on the coast, with about 20 of those jackpot wins coming from its gaming floor.
