Armand 'Mondo" Duplantis is really good at the pole vault. He is best in the world kind of good when it comes to the pole vault. This weekend, the Lafayette High School graduate and soon to be a member of the LSU track team soared to even greater heights in the European Championships.

Duplantis broke his own world record for his age division when he soared 19 feet, 10 and 1/4 inches to win the gold in the European Championships. His vault smashed the under 20 record and was the fourth-best pole vault ever recorded regardless of age group.

Duplantis competes on the international stage under the flag of Sweden. His mother, Helena competed for her home nation in volleyball and as a heptathlete. Duplantis will be competing for LSU in the coming track season. His brother, Antoine, is an outfielder on the LSU baseball team.
