A new riverboat that has begun sailing on the Mississippi River will soon make routine stops in Baton Rouge.

American Cruise Lines' American Harmony began its inaugural cruise on the Mississippi River this past Saturday. And on Wednesday, August 21 it will dock in Baton Rouge.

The newest ship in the line of five modern riverboats can hold up to 180 passengers. Its homeport is in New Orleans.

The riverboat will spend two days in the Capital City where guests will be able to visit museums, attractions, retail shops and restaurants.

In addition to the American Harmony, the American Queen Steamboat company will add American Countess to its fleet and that vessel will begin making stops in Baton Rouge beginning in 2020.
