ACADIA PARISH

Acadia-Evangeline Fire Protection District Proposition
Renewal of a special 10-year, 4.10-mill property tax to fund the acquisition, construction, improvement, maintenance, and operation of the district’s fire protection facilities, including equipment and the cost of obtaining water. The tax would raise an estimated $209,000 annually between 2016 and 2025.

Bayou des Cannes-Nezpique Gravity Drainage District Proposition
Renewal of a special 10-year, six-mill property tax to fund the maintenance and operation of the district’s gravity drainage works. The tax would raise an estimated $612,000 annually between 2016 and 2025.

Iota Fire Protection District Proposition No. 1
Renewal of a 10-year, 10.60-mill property tax to fund the maintenance and operation of fire protection facilities, the purchase of fire trucks and other firefighting equipment, and the cost of obtaining water. The tax would raise an estimated $106,000 annually between 2016 and 2025.

Iota Fire Protection District Proposition No. 2
Renewal of a 10-year, 11.49-mill property tax to fund the acquisition, construction, improvement, maintenance and/or operation of fire protection facilities and equipment, including the cost of obtaining water. The tax will generate an estimated $114,900 annually between 2016 and 2025.

City of Crowley Proposition
Continuation of the 1981 half-cent sales and use tax. The tax would be rededicated to fund pay raises for fire personnel, police personnel, and other city employees.

Acadia Parish Police Jury Ward 7/Evangeline Parish School District No. 7 Proposition
Bond measure calling on the district to assume up to $8.5 million in debt by issuing bonds to fund the acquisition and/or improvements to lands for building sites and playgrounds--including the construction of sidewalks and streets adjacent to those lands--and the construction of school facilities in the district. The bonds may not run more than 20 years nor exceed 7% per annum. The bonds would be paid through a property tax, with an estimated 13 mills to be levied in the first year.

Town of Duson Proposition
Creation of a new 4% hotel occupancy tax to fund economic development, the promotion of tourism, and related infrastructure within Duson. If approved, the tax would take effect on January 1, 2016, and collect an estimated $28,046 annually.

EVANGELINE PARISH

Parishwide Proposition
If approved, veterans with a service-related disability rating of 100% would be exempt from paying property taxes on the next $75,000 after the homestead exemption. Homestead exemption would be passed on to the surviving spouse if it was in effect on a property prior to the veteran’s death and the spouse remains the owner of the property.

Would rename the City-Parish President title to “Mayor/President.”

Parishwide Home Rule Charter Amendment Proposition No. 2
Sets the size of the Planning and Zoning Commission at seven members, four of whom must live within Lafayette city limits and three of whom must live in unincorporated Lafayette Parish. The commissioners would still be selected by the Lafayette City-Parish Council and would serve staggered five-year terms.

Continuation of a special 10-year property tax to pay for the cost of maintaining and operating fire facilities, purchasing fire fighting equipment, and paying for the cost of water for fire protection. If approved, the tax would increase from 4.50-mills to 4.52-mills and would generate an estimated $198,000 annually between 2017 and 2026.

The tax would generate an estimated $65,956 annually between 2016 and 2025.

Recreation District No. 3 Proposition
Creates a 20-year, nine-mill property tax to fund the maintenance, operation, and improvements for recreational facilities in the district. The new tax would replace all current taxes currently being levied by the district for those purposes. The tax would generate an estimated $838,000 in revenue for the district annually between 2016 and 2035.
