Ochsner Health officials reported in a meeting earlier today that 3,000 doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines are on the way to Lafayette.

KATC reports Ochsner is "expecting to receive 9,375 doses of the Pfizer vaccine by Monday and will be distributing those across the state."

Pfizer has three COVID-19 vaccine hubs set up in Louisiana. The vaccines will be split up between the three hubs, with Lafayette receiving 2,925, New Orleans 5,125, and Shreveport 1,325.

The vaccines being sent are not for the public, but will be given to Louisiana's front line workers.

"Side affects from the vaccine are mild, according to hospital officials. They say over 30,000 participants have taken the vaccine during the trial and their side affects were arm pain from where the shot was taken, a low grade fever, and fatigue."
