LSU head coach Ed Orgeron wanted Lane Kiffin as his next offensive coordinator.

The Tigers waited weeks, leaving the job open. Ultimately, Kiffin took the head coaching position at Florida Atlantic University.

With Kiffin off the table, LSU has hired Matt Canada as their next OC.

Canada, 44, was most recently the OC Pitt where he had great success. This season, he was one of five finalists for the Broyles Award which is given to the the best assistant coach in college football each year.

"We have a real opportunity under Coach Orgeron to propel LSU football to another level," Canada said in a University release. "The chance to put together a high-powered offense with the athletic ability available at LSU and the leadership of Coach O is incredibly exciting."

Canada will be charged with turning around an LSU offense that ranked 60th in the country and has struggled to develop the quarterback position.
