A power outage at Opelousas High School and the OHS Biomed Academy is forcing the St. Landry Parish School System to shut the schools down early today (Monday, May 10).

According to a press release posted to the school system's website, a blown transformer knocked out power to the two campuses. Because of this, officials are dismissing classes at those schools at 11 a.m. for car riders and 11:30 a.m. for bus riders.

The power outage also knocked out phone service at the school.

All other schools will continue to operate on their normal schedules for the rest of the day. No word on how the power outage will affect tomorrow's classes at OHS and OHS Biomed.
