Popular Lafayette Television Anchor Announces Departure
Lafayette morning television is losing a popular anchor as KLFY News 10's Sylvia Masters has announced via social media that she is leaving the station.
In her post, Masters said that Friday, September 27 will be her last day.
Masters, a native of Houma, Louisiana, has been with KLFY since April 2018 when she was hired as a Multimedia Journalist/Reporter.
She was in that role for two years before being promoted to the morning anchor position heading up the long-time Acadiana staple morning show, "Passe Partout."
Masters headed up that show runs from 4:30 am to 7:00 am on weekdays. A weekend edition also airs Saturdays at 5:00 am and Sundays at 6:00 am.
In addition to her role with KLFY, many will remember Masters as Miss Louisiana USA 2023. She was crowned with that honor in February 2023 during a competition at the Jefferson Performing Arts Center in Metairie.
In her social media post regarding her departure, Masters said she is moving to Houston where her fiancé, Raymond, lives and works. The two are getting married soon.

While we don't know exactly what Masters has planned next, we have a sneaky suspicion that another television gig is in her future, as she was well respected and loved by the audience here in Lafayette.
"I am going to miss KLFY and everyone I work with. My aunt told me today, 'When you work at a job you love, your ‘people’ become family.' I couldn’t agree more," Masters said.
We wish her the best of luck in this next exciting chapter of life and her career.
