Authorities will be closing portions of Ambassador Caffery in Lafayette to allow for a more thorough investigation into a recent fatality crash.

The crash, which claimed one life, happened last Friday and involved a dump truck and two passenger vehicles. The crash caused the roadway to be closed for several hours.

According to The Advocate, Lafayette Police will be closing portions of Ambassador Caffery (near its intersection with Guilbeau Road) between 9 and 10:30 am. The northbound lanes of Ambassador Caffery will be closed intermittently, and left-hand turns off of southbound Ambassador Caffery onto Guilbeau will not be allowed. Also, traffic on Guilbeau headed toward Ambassador Caffery will not be able to go past Chapel Dr (near Meritus Credit Union).

The closures, it is hoped, will not last past 10:30 Thursday morning. It would be in your best interest to avoid that area during the investigation as less traffic will allow for safer conditions for investigators and, hopefully, allow for a shorter closure window.
