Powerball Confirms Louisiana Winner in Saturday’s Drawing
Lottery players in Louisiana have been in a late spring slump as of late. And, that's a good news, bad news proposition for sure. The bad news is that no winners mean no one is taking home the cash. The good news is that the jackpots grow with every drawing and when someone does eventually match numbers needed to claim a prize, it will be a big money prize.
On Saturday June 10, 2023 the multi-state lottery game Powerball had its third drawing of the week. The game hosts drawings on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. Here's how Saturday's game unfolded.
The Powerball website confirms that the numbers drawn for Saturday's game were:
21 32 42 46 50 Powerball 04 Power Play x3
The Powerball website also confirmed that not tickets sold throughout the game's footprint matched the numbers needed to claim last night's top prize of $310,100,000. There were also no Match 5 winners either. The Match 5 prize is either $2 million or $1 million. It depends on if the ticket's purchaser opted in on the Power Play or not.
By the way, in my opinion, a Match 5 win would be the most bittersweet lottery victory you could ever claim. That's because in order to win Match 5 a ticket has to match all five of the white balls but not the Powerball. So, you win but but you were one number away from winning really big. I guess that's my personal greed talking.
So, about that Louisiana winner. If you purchase your Powerball ticket at a retailer that looks similar to the photograph below you'll probably want to verify your tickets against the Louisiana Lottery site or the Powerball site.
Last night's big winner, a $50,000 ticket, was sold at a Circle K Store in the state. If you want specifics, it was the Circle K #2707665. Still doesn't ring a bell? How about this, it was the Circle K at 3001 Loyola Drive in Kenner, Louisiana. That's the Circle K that is located near Sam's Club just off I-10 and very near the New Orleans Airport.
The $50,000 winner matched four of the five white balls and the Powerball. The ticket was one of 23 sold in the state for Saturday's drawing that are worth at least $100 this morning.
Since there was no jackpot winner the Powerball game will continue to add to the pot for Monday's game. The top prize in that drawing will be an estimated $324 million. Based on history, participation in the Powerball and Mega Millions game really picks up when the top prizes top $300 million.
Powerball is there already. The estimated top prize for Tuesday's Mega Millions drawing is $260 million. So, by next week at this time, assuming there is no jackpot winner, that game will be above $300 million as well.
Remember those estimated prizes are based on the winner accepting the annuity payout. If you win and you want the cash now the payout for Tuesday's Mega Millions will be $134.3 million and for Powerball it would be $167. 3 million. No, that's nothing to sneeze at but still considerably less when compared to the payout you'd get over a 20 year span.
There were no jackpot winners in Saturday's other draw games, namely Lotto and Easy 5 so those jackpots will continue to grow in advance of their next drawing which is scheduled for next Wednesday night at 10 pm.
And finally, here is our cautionary tale to you, please only play lottery games responsibly. Most tickets purchased for these games are not winners. If you feel you're having an issue with gambling or love someone who might have a problem help is available. Call 1-877-770- STOP (7867).
