According to LSU beat writer Ross Dellenger of The Advocate, the Tigers have signed defensive coordinator Dave Aranda to an extension and given him a promotion.

Aranda just wrapped up his first regular season as DC at LSU. He signed a 3 year deal worth $1.2 million annually last offseason.

Per Dellenger, the new contract will gave Aranda an extension, pay raise, and title of Associate Head Coach. Specific details of the contract have not been reported on at this time.

LSU held a press conference Saturday to announce interim coach Ed Orgeron as full time head coach moving forward.

Orgeron noted his expectation of Aranda's return.

LSU's defense allowed 5 touchdowns in a blowout win on Thanksgiving against Texas A&M, but only allowed 10 touchdowns the entire season prior to Thursday night.

He is revered as one of the best defensive minds in college football.

Aranda's extension is the first big win of Ed Orgeron's term is full-time head coach at LSU.
