Short Term Rental Ban Extended in Florida
If you were planning on going to Florida for vacation anytime soon, there's good news, and bad news. The good news is, the beaches in some parts of the panhandle are opening on May 1. This includes Okaloosa and Walton counties, and the City of Destin. Walton County includes Miramar Beach, Sandestin, Seaside, and Rosemary Beach. Okaloosa Country includes Ft Walton Beach and Destin.
The bad news is, according to WUWF Radio 'The governor’s short-term rental ban has been extended indefinitely starting May 4'.
Okaloosa County is opening beaches on May 1 from 6:30 am - 9:30 am and 4:00 pm - 7:30 pm and will fully reopen on May 9. Destin City Council voted yesterday to also open the beaches on May 1, but hours will be from dawn until dusk, and visitors must practice social distancing with parties of less than 10. Henderson State Park and James Lee Park are not included.
Walton County will also open beaches on May 1 with no time restrictions, but activities will be limited to jogging, walking, paddle boarding, fishing, surfing, swimming, and boating, but no sunbathing. Beach goers will be expected to follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines concerning COVID-19, and if they don't, could face up to 60 days in jail and a fine of up to $500.
