Most Sinful States In America

How is it even possible that a state can be sinful? Well, clearly it's not the state, it's the people who live in the state who are responsible for its sinful reputation.

How do you even start making a list like this?

"WalletHub compared the 50 states across 47 key indicators of immoral or illicit behavior. Our data set ranges from violent crimes per capita to excessive drinking to the share of the population with gambling disorders."

All 50 states were scored on the "WalletHub Vice Index" to determine the overall ranking of "Most Sinful".

Violent crime, jealousy, theft, lack of exercise, even number of beauty salons per capita...can Louisiana really be that sinful?

"Wallethub Vice Index" examined sinful behaviors like anger and hatred, jealousy, excesses and vices, greed, lust, vanity, and laziness.

The obvious number one "most sinful state" is, of course, Nevada but, where does Louisiana land on this list?

Louisiana Ranked 5th Most Sinful State ranks Louisiana as the "5th Most Sinful State" in America for 2022.

That's right. According to the "Wallethub Vice Index" we're more sinful than 45 other states.

As a matter of fact, Louisiana ranks number one on the "Wallethub Vice Index" for "Most Thefts Per Capita".

Before we get into the gory details of why we're so sinful, you should probably know that ranked Idaho as the "Most Boring State in America" I mean the "Least Sinful State in America".

The top five looks like this -

1. Nevada
2. California
3. Texas
4. Florida
5. Louisiana

Here are the six reasons why Louisiana is number five on the list according to Wallethub.

The Sinfulness of Louisiana

  • 4th – Anger & Hatred
  • 8th – Jealousy
  • 1st – Excesses & Vices
  • 25th – Greed
  • 12th – Lust
  • 3rd – Laziness

Out of the seven sinful behaviors used to score this list, the one behavior we didn't score that high in was vanity.
