There are some problem homes in Lafayette, and government is planning to do something about it.

Lafayette Consolidated Government has over 1,000 properties, mostly in the city of Lafayette, that have recurring problems of tall grass or other environmental issues.

Some homes do not get the attention they need due to financial or other reasons.

Those homes can bring down property values.

Some people even abandon their properties.

LCG also has two dozen properties that have been condemned and are slated to be demolished.

Housing Inspector Randy Viator says the process of condemning a house takes about six to seven months from start to finish.
