Normally we would be looking forward to this holiday weekend as a great excuse to get stuff done around the house or maybe take a short trip. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, most of us are wanting to do anything but be at home and trips, even short ones, bring their own fears and trepidation.

Since most of us will opt to just hang out at the house you should be aware that in Lafayette Parish and in the city to some services provided by Lafayette Consolidated Government will be curtailed.

The Department of Public Works Transit Division will not provide bus service on July 4th. This includes Daytime, Night Owl, and Paratransit services. Those services will return to their normal schedule on July 6th.

Republic Services will have no changes in their scheduled routes to pick up trash and debris across the city and parish. So, don't forget to roll those cans out to the street on your appointed pick up day. Or you'll risk sun-baked stinking trash for another week while you wait for the next round of pickups.

LCG's 311 Call Center will be closed on Friday. However, those still needing information on services may still use the online version. That will be operational 24 hours a day and seven days a week should have the need to submit a service request.
