St. Martinville Juvenile Arrested For Bringing Firearm On School Campus
Investigators with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office received a report this morning from Administrators at St. Martinville Senior High School in reference to a student at St. Martinville High School who allegedly was in possession of a firearm on campus.
Following an immediate investigation into the allegation, Investigators discovered that videos were posted on a social media site that showed him brandishing a handgun on a school bus and also inside a classroom. A warrant of arrest was obtained and this afternoon the juvenile male subject was arrested and charged as follows:
- LA. R.S.-14:95.2-1-count-Carrying a firearm or dangerous weapon by a student or non-student on school property, at school-sponsored functions, or in a firearm free zone. (Felony)
Following his arrest, he was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center on the above charge and was subsequently released to the custody of his parents.
Students who partake in this dangerous type of behavior will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
