St. Mary Deputy Fired After Battery Allegation

A deputy with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office was arrested yesterday on a warrant for simple battery.

The 30-year-old woman, Deboni Rollins, was also fired.

The simple battery charge stems from allegations that she struck an inmate at the St. Mary Parish Correction Center last Tuesday, April 16.

Officials with the Sheriff's Office report that Rollins turned herself in voluntary to authorities yesterday.

These events were put in motion after the completion of an investigation into the complaint.
