The Daily Advertiser Cuts Staff; Several Journalists Segue to The Advocate
One local newspaper is making cuts while another is growing.
The Daily Advertiser is cutting staff and reducing the page counts of its newspaper. As a result, several key journalists were let go.
On the flip side, many of those cut were hired on by The Advocate.
Advocate owner John Georges announced the hiring of Kevin Foote, Claire Taylor, Megan Wyatt, James Bewers and Shari Puterman.
“Acadiana deserves a news organization as dedicated and intelligent and passionate as its people,” said Georges. “We believe that local ownership is the key to the future of media in Louisiana.”
Two local media executives from Louisiana were also added to The Advocate team.
