5 years after the doors closed following the death of its owner, long-time customer Katie Guidy took over the reins for her favorite dive bar. Guidry says she wants to bring the close-knit community back to the 'Boose' where everyone was welcome and no one felt left out.

Along with re-opening the bar, Katie's friend is making a documentary about the dive bar's history, with a showing set for outside of the bar. People were invited to tell their stories on camera about their experiences at The Loose Caboose on Facebook and in-person to the filmmaker.

Earlier this year, The Loose Caboose held a block party at the original location, to get the buzz back about McKinley's favorite bar and test the waters. Seems like it worked, because they're back in action this weekend starting at 7 p.m.

I visited the 'Boose' once or twice when I first moved here in 2011-2012. It was an experience but a welcome one. I'm excited to see if the environment and vibes are still in tact years later.
