Turkey Fire! [Video]

Thanksgiving, a time for friends and family to gather together and watch as you burn your home to the ground. What would you do in this situation? You are removing your holiday bird from the oven. Some pan drippings spill on the heating element and fire erupts. Would you panic? Or would you remain calm, collected and know exactly what to do?

You can learn a lot from this video. The first thing, an oven will put out a fire by suffocating the flames. The second thing, every kitchen should have a working fire extinguisher and somebody needs to know how to use it. The third thing, remain calm and you will have a fighting chance.

This family was very lucky they didn't spend the rest of Thanksgiving in a hotel talking to insurance people. I hope you will be safe whether you're frying, baking, smoking or roasting.
