Two More Animals Die Following Jaguar Attack at Audubon Zoo
Two more animals are dead following the escape of a jaguar at the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans yesterday.
Zoo officials say that Copper the fox, who was in critical condition following the attack, succumbed to his injuries today. A third fox, Rusty, is improving and under the care of veterinarians.
Earlier today a fifth alpaca died due to its injuries.
So all total, two foxes, five alpacas, and an emu have died.
Yesterday morning around 7:20am a jaguar escaped from the "Jaguar Jungle" exhibit and made its way through other zoo exhibits, attacking animals.
Zoo officials have revealed that an early inspection of the jaguar's enclosure found the roof was "compromised." The investigation continues but initial findings concluded that keeper error was not a factor.
