
UL Football Player Arrested Following Altercation
A UL Ragin' Cajuns football player has been suspended following his arrest last weekend.
According to Lafayette Police, Alex Allen and a 24-year-old male were involved in an altercation at the corner of S. Buchanan and Congress Street on December 21.
The 24-year-old was transported to a local hospital. The extent of his injuries was not made public.
Allen, who recently graduated, was arrested on 2nd-degree battery charges.
University officials released the following statement regarding the incident:
Out of respect for the legal process, the University will not comment on circumstances that led to the student-athlete's suspension. The thoughts of the University community are with the injured student and his family.
Allen has since bonded out of jail.
