Roscoe, the K-9 police dog killed in the line of duty Wednesday night, received all the respect any officer of the law would when his body was transported to the Calcasieu Parish coroner's office. KPLC TV reporter Kayla Corvell was on the scene as other members of the law enforcement community, including other K-9, were there to pay tribute to the faithful member of their ranks.

A black SUV carried his body from Crowley to the facility in Lake Charles, escorted by several other units Thursday morning. From there, it will go to Sulphur where he will be cremated.

Roscoe had been a member of the Crowley Police Department since last year.

According to Crowley Police, Roscoe and his partner Tate Thibodeaux responded to a call of a shooting around 10:30 Wednesday night. During the incident, Roscoe was shot and killed. Officer Thibodeaux, Roscoe's handler, was also shot. He was transported to a local hospital and has since been treated and released.

Rest in peace, Roscoe. Thank you for your service.
