Even though Louisiana is the Sportsman's Paradise, it's not that easy for some of us to get to the bayous and bays to get some fishing done.

That's why the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries has been stocking ponds a little closer to home. Girard Park and Southside Regional Park are both stocked with fish for residents to catch, including trout and catfish.

KATC TV3 is reporting that the LDWF has recently replenished the stock of catfish at both ponds.

The Southside Regional Park is located near the Eastside Regional Library, just beyond Fabacher Field.

If you don't have fishing gear, the Eastside Regional Library can get you started; with a valid Lafayette Library card, you can check out a fishing pole and head next door to try your luck.
