Acadiana Has Picked The CMA’s

The past several weeks we've asked for your opinion to choose the CMA Awards. You have answered in a resounding way offering hundreds of different opinions on every category available.This year has been a great year in country music. We've seen the star power of the new generation of performers and we've also spent some time with a couple of our timeless favorites. The bottom line is this, Country Music is the best music on the planet and we at 97.3 The Dawg are proud to play your favorite music on the radio.

The categories that always draw the biggest attention are the Male and Female vocalist of the year and of course the CMA Entertainer of the Year. And the winners are:

Entertainer of the Year: Based upon your votes this wasn't even a close category the winner in a landslide, Luke Bryan. Luke was your choice by a more than two to one margin. It's no wonder. If you've ever seen a Luke Bryan show you get the feeling that he is performing just for you. His playful smile and hip shaking dance moves makes the women swoon and his aw shucks attitude makes him alright with the fellows too. Congratulations Luke Bryan you are Acadiana's  Entertainer of the Year!

Male Vocalist of the Year: The voting was much tighter in this category as Blake Shelton and Jason Aldean certainly had their admirers but the most votes went to Luke Bryan. Luke's distinctive voice and smooth country boy style have propelled him to the top of the charts on many occasions.  His ability to charm audiences on such a wide variety of tunes like Crash My Party, That's My Kind of Night and Drunk On You demonstrate his strong vocal talents and based upon your votes Luke Bryan is Acadiana's Male Vocalist of The Year.

Female Vocalist of the Year: The top two candidates in this category split just about all the votes that were cast. The other three nominees only received 23 votes between them.  Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert got all of the other votes cast. When the dust had finally settled it was Carrie Underwood by 5 votes. This was by far the closest category in all of the ones that were surveyed for this story. Congratulations Carrie Underwood, you are Acadiana's Female Vocalist of the Year.

Musical Event of the Year: Blake Shelton (Feat. Pistol Annies)- 'Boys Round Here'

Music Video of the Year: Carrie Underwood- Blown Away

Musician of the Year - Mac McAnally
