Our country stars are sure making a name for themselves in the kitchen these days. For starters you got Trisha Yearwood and Kimberly Schlapman of Little Big Town with big time cooking TV shows.

Now, Alan Jackson wants to get in on the action.

Actually he just wants to share his delicious egg nog recipe.

What makes A-Jax an authority on sweet holiday treats? Not sure if there is anything in particular, but he did put out a cookbook in the 90s called "Who Says You Can't Cook It All" and even penned a song about his love of bologna!

Let's get in the holiday spirit with Alan's Eggnog. (Oh by the way, it's spiked so don't be passing this around the kids' table on Christmas.)

Alan’s Eggnog

Serves 8

If you want to take your holiday cheer (and flavor) to the next level, spring for whole nutmeg that you grate yourself, rather than powdered nutmeg.

1 pint heavy whipping cream
1 ¼ cups sugar
6 eggs, yolks and whites separated
¾ cup bourbon whiskey
1/3 cup light rum
1 quart whole milk
Nutmeg, optional

Whip the cream until stiff, adding ¼ cup sugar towards the end.

In another bowl, whip the egg whites and ½ cup sugar until stiff.

In a third, larger bowl, whip the egg yolks and remaining ½ cup sugar until creamy. Add the bourbon and rum to the whipped egg yolk mixture. Stir in the milk.

Combine all the ingredients and chill. To serve, top with a sprinkle of nutmeg, if desired. Enjoy.
