Former law enforcement officer and felony prosecutor Mark Garber plans to officially announce his desire to serve as Lafayette's Parish Sheriff. Garber plans to hold an annoucement function tomorrow at Zea's Rotisserie Grill at 235 Doucet Road in Lafayette.

Garber says,

 

"The families of Lafayette Parish expect and deserve the highest level of law enforcement. My education, experience in both local and federal law enforcement, and time spent as a felony prosecutor make me the most qualified candidate to continue providing and to improve upon that high level of law enforcement Lafayette Parish has received for the past fifteen years under Sheriff Neustrom."

 

Garber says he has served as a police officer, in the Counterintelligence Section of the Air Force OSI, and he received a Bronze Start after hundreds of interrogations of Al Qaeda and other insurgent groups.

He has also served int he U.S. Secret Service and as a felony prosecutor with the 15th Judicial District Attorney's Office.

Garber is married and has two children.
