One thing South Louisiana has earned a reputation for is live music. And in Downtown Lafayette there are several live music events that are the reasons so many people show up with dancing shoes. There is Patty in the Parc that brought thousands into Lafayette's Parc International just a few weeks ago. This past Friday there was a good crowd in Parc San Souci for Downtown Alive! And those are just a few of the reasons music lovers love to come to Lafayette's downtown parks and music venues.

As part of the Shaking Out the Good Stuff series sponsored by Morton Salt, Week's Island facility this week the Morton Salt spotlight will shine on another Downtown Lafayette free music series. It's "Acadiana's Favorite Lunchtime Concert Series" according to the Bach Lunch website. I would agree with that too. When I first moved to South Louisiana in 1995 Bach Lunch was one of the first events I ever attended.

The month of April will offer those in the downtown area two opportunities to "have class outside" during lunch. The Bach Lunch schedule includes a performance this Friday in Parc San Souci by Boma Bango,

The weather for this Friday, April 12 should be perfect for lunch in the park. Food vendors will begin selling at 11 a.m. and the music will begin at Noon. The concert wraps up at 1 p.m. which should allow everyone just enough time to get back to the office to wrap up Friday afternoon.

The musical guest for the April 19th edition of Bach Lunch will be Louisiana legend Major Handy and the Louisiana Blues Band featuring vocalist Sharona Thomas. I know these cats personally and you will be wishing lunch could last forever.
