Billy Gilman wowed judges and viewers alike with his performance Tuesday evening (Oct. 25) on The Voice. Gilman sang a powerful cover of Rachel Platten’s “Fight Song” and impressed during his two minutes in the spotlight with his commanding stage presence and memorable voice.

Each judge was visibly mesmerized while the camera panned to them during Gilman's performance. Even Miley Cyrus could be seen mouthing to Adam Levine, "his perfect voice." While the audience clapped along at his impressive vocal runs, the judges seemed equally impressed as Gilman kept his spot on Team Adam, beating out fellow Team Adam member Ponciano Seoane, who sang Ed Sheeran's “I See Fire.”

“Billy came out here, and maybe because I know more of the backstory, I know this guy has so much that he wants to prove,” Shelton said, “and I felt it in your performance, man. It was almost undeniable.”

Levine also raved about Gilman's stage show.

“You can emote so well. You can draw people in so easily,” Levine said. “What you do — you have a very special gift, and I’m just really proud and honored to have you on my team.”

The Voice is far from Gilman's first time in the spotlight, as he found fame as a young boy with the release of his debut single, “One Voice,” in 2000. Gilman was just 11 at the time and became the youngest country act to earn a Top 40 hit. Several albums and singles later, the singer’s success faltered.

“It’s been a struggle,” Gilman said after his battle win earlier this month. “I just feel so happy, so validated, because that hasn’t happened in a very long time.”
