Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun football team has lost 3 straight for the first time in the Mark Hudspeth era, falling at Boise State Saturday night 34-9.

Louisiana's defense gave up 499 yards to the Broncos, allowing 262 yards on the ground and another 232 through the air.

Boise State running back Jay Ayaji led the way for the Broncos, rushing for 127 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Despite the yardage surrendered, Louisiana head coach Mark Hudspeth was more critical of his team on the other side of the ball.

"We made some nice plays defensively, got zero help from the offense," said Hudspeth.

The Cajuns could only muster 241 total yards of offense, punting 7 times and turning it over on downs twice.

Louisiana's offense has had serious issues throwing the ball down the field in the last 3 losses. Senior wide receiver Jamal Robinson was injured in the first half of the Louisiana Tech loss in week 2. In his absence, the downfield passing game has struggled.

The outside receivers for UL didn't register a single reception Saturday in Boise, with the bulk of the receiving yards coming from screens, dinks and dunks to running back Elijah McGuire (pictured above). Al Riles reeled in 3 catches from the slot, while tight end Larry Pettis caught 2 passes for 5 yards.

"Until offensively we get going, it's going to be hard," explained Hudspeth.

McGuire was a bright spot for the Cajuns, tallying 31 yards and a touchdown on the ground, while adding another 106 yards receiving. His 10 receptions is a new career high.

Despite McGuire's offensive production, he's not getting the ball enough according to his head coach.

"We're going to change some things offensively (moving forward)," said Hudspeth. "We're not getting Eli enough touches."

Hunter Stover added a 22 yard field goal in the first quarter, 4 plays after completing his first career pass.

On a field goal attempt, Stephen Morella's snap came early, sailing past holder Jake Guidry. In a crafty move, Stover picked up the  ball and completed a first down pass (on 4th and 14) to tight end Evan Tatford, keeping the drive alive and leading to the first Cajun points of the game.

Defensively, cornerback Trevence Patt set a career-high with 14 tackles. Corey Trim, Kevin Fouquier, and Dominique Tovell each added 8.

Christian Ringo (pictured below), Marquis White, and Tovell all registered one sack a piece.

Louisiana will look to regroup from their 1-3 start with an off week, followed by the beginning of Sun Belt Conference play on Saturday, October 4th when they host Georgia State. Kickoff is set for 6:00. Pregame begins at 4:00 on ESPN1420.
