Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun basketball team lost more than a game last Saturday versus WKU. Sophomore guard Kasey Shepherd, who currently leads the Sun Belt in 3-point shooting at .553 (26-47), will miss the remainder of the season with a torn meniscus.

Sources close to the program have informed me that Shepherd suffered the injury in the 2nd half of Saturday's loss. The injury will require surgery, though a date for the procedure is yet to be determined.

Losing Shepherd is a big blow to Bob Marlin's squad. Shepherd was averaging 8.2 points per game in 16.9 minutes of play. His ability to stretch opposing defenses, as well as provide key scoring off the pine, has benefited the Cajuns numerous times this season. In one of the better wins of the season at Louisiana Tech, Shepherd scored a career-high 22 points. While he's a reserve point guard, he also displayed an ability to play off the ball with Elfrid Payton.

Louisiana is currently traveling to Little Rock for tomorrow night's matchup with UALR. Catch the action on ESPN1420 & espn1420.com. Pre-game with Jay Walker is scheduled for 6:35, with tip to follow at 7:05.
