Christmas Events in Lafayette, Louisiana Area This Weekend, Dec. 9-10

We are in the thick of the holiday season and this weekend there are a ton of great events to check out throughout the Acadiana area.

From parades to photos with Santa, Christmas shopping markets to live performances, there is something for every member of the family.

Below is a list of some of the great community events happening in and around the Lafayette area this weekend:

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 9, 2023

Cajun Christmas Celebration | Abbeville - Downtown. Live music, shopping, kids crafts, and vendors. 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Parade begins at 5:30 pm.

Christmas Artwalk in Paris | Breaux Bridge - Downtown. Open-air holiday market, 60 vendors, live music, food, and photos with Santa. 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. downtownbreauxbridge@gmail.com

Christmas on the Bayou | Delcambre - Lighted boat parade and family fun along the Delcambre Canal. Parade followed by fireworks display. 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

Very Berry Christmas | New Iberia - Family scavenger hunt. Enter in a drawing to win prizes. 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. www.iberiachamber.org.

Christmas in Washington | Washington - Main Street. Live music and DJ. Kids Corner for games, face painting, and balloon artistry. 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. Santa arrives at 1:00 pm. Christmas tree lighting 7:00 pm.

Sugar Plum Market | Lafayette - Cajundome. 10:00 am to 4:30 pm. Over 100 vendors, clothing, home, holiday, garden decor, gourmet food items, jewelry. Tickets can be purchased at Cajundome Box Office (337) 265-2104.

St. Lucy Festival of Lights | St. Martinville - St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church. Chariot parade, open house, photos with Santa & Mrs. Clause, scavenger hunt, lighting of the square, Christmas caroling, live nativity, and more. 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm.

Movies in the Parc | Lafayette - Dr. Seuss' The Grinch. Downtown. Fun jumps, food trucks, face painting, crafts, and more. Bring chairs and picnic blankets. Free. Food and activities open at 4:30 pm. Movie begins at sundown.

Pancakes & PJs With Santa | New Iberia - Sliman Theater. Spend a morning with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Photo-ops, food, face painting. Storytime with Mrs. Claus. Select holiday vendors. 8:00 am to 11:00 am. www.iberiatravel.com/events

Semi-Seasonal Shop Hop | Maurice - Woodmen of the World Life Insurance, 301 W Lafayette St. Shop local vendors while you sip mimosas. Kids corner to keep the little ones occupied. 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

The Nutcracker | Lafayette - Heymann Performing Arts Center. 7:00 pm. Tickets at www.lafayetteballettheatre.org

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 10

Christmas Parade | Delcambre - Main Street. Christmas on the Bayou. Santa Claus, marching bands, and dance groups. 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

The Nutcracker | Lafayette - Heymann Performing Arts Center. 2:00 pm. Tickets at www.lafayetteballettheatre.org

Christmas in the Commons Market | Broussard - Christmas shop and support local vendors. Pics with Santa, live music, festive food, shopping, arts & crafts, and more. 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.

St. Martinville Community Parade | St. Martinville - Starts at St. Martinville Senior High School and heads down Main Street to City Hall. 2:00 pm.

The following events have been moved from this weekend due to forecasted inclement weather:

Christmas at West Village | Scott - Enjoy live music, Christmas shopping from their holiday artisans' market, pictures with Santa, train rides, kids' activities, food trucks, and more. Free to attend. 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm (Was scheduled for Sat, Dec. 9, now scheduled for Sat, Dec 16) 

The Queen City Christmas Parade in New Iberia was moved from Sat. Dec. 9 to Fri, Dec. 8.

Then, of course, there are ongoing events throughout the month like Noel Acadien au Village and Youngsville on Ice.
