We are getting into that other time of year when power bills tend to be larger than we want them to be. Frequent cold snaps and homes that aren't designed to be energy efficient in colder weather will create an uncomfortable surprise when you open your monthly power bill.  CLECO is offering an incentive to their customers which will help them use less power and also reduce their utility bills all while improving the homes in which they live.

Spokesperson Robbyn Cooper explains how the CLECO plan works.

"This energy efficiency program that we're offering allows customers to make some improvements to their home that will help them save energy in the long run and, therefore, helping manage their electricity bill."

Cooper's comments to the Louisiana Radio Network also included information on how customers can get the ball rolling when it comes to saving on their CLECO bill. It starts with a visit to the CLECO website. After customers have gotten more information they can arrange for an energy assessment. This assessment will highlight any improvements that need to be made to the home.

If work is required or suggested CLECO has a plan in place to help pay for the improvements.

"Contractors will actually give you an instant rebate on the invoice as a discount at the time that some work is being done."

The only stipulation is that the work be performed by pre-approved contractors. A list of these contractors can be found on the CLECO website.
