Four fishermen were about 30 miles off the coast of Venice, La when they noticed they had what they didn't want in the boat. They didn't have fish, they had water. Luckily, the U.S. Coast Guard was there to lend a helping hand and save the day!

The fishing crew was made up of 3 men and a 15-year-old. They only had one life vest on board, and they gave it to the 15-year-old. As soon as the captain realized they were starting to sink, he started heading towards the closest structure he could, an abandoned offshore oil platform.

“Amazingly, their cellphone worked so they were able to to get a call off to the Coast Guard and we got a position off that cellphone. We flew out to there position with the lat/long off their cellphone, and found them their underneath a shack on the platform itself,” Luxhoj said. “They came out, gave us a wave and we sent a rescue swimmer down. He made sure they were all OK — no one had major injuries or anything, and then we hoisted all four of them up and back to Air Station New Orleans.

“They were all fine.”
