This year's Country Showdown is set for Friday, August 1st at Cowboy's Night Club in Lafayette. The Showdown gives you the opportunity to perform on stage and hopefully launch your very own singing career.

Now, we just got to get you started. Entering the Country Showdown is simple. All we need is a sample of what you sound like. So, start getting your demo ready. It can be any recording of you singing. It can even be acapella. YouTube videos also accepted.

Then fill out the official entry form and submit it along with the $20 entry fee to our studios at 1749 Bertrand Drive in Lafayette any weekday between 8am-5pm. Deadline for entry is Monday, July 21st by 5pm. Entry forms can be downloaded here or picked up at our studios during our normal business hours. (If your demo is digital in form, email it to jude@973thedawg.com.)

We will then select the 10 finalists who will get to compete on stage with a live band at Cowboy's Night Club on Friday, August 1st for the title as 97.3 The Dawg's Country Showdown winner.

That act will then move on to the state competition, and hopefully, eventually to the national competition. The 2014 national winner receives $100,000 and the title of "Best New Act in Country Music".
