The community is invited to join the Bayou Vermilion District's Vermilionville as they celebrate their annual Native American Culture Day on September 8th from 10am-4pm at their historic village. Representatives from many of Louisiana's Native American tribes will be on hand throughout the village to celebrate their living cultures through craft demonstrations, food, music, dance and cultural exchange.

Demonstrations such as ancient weapons, cooking, beadwork, weaving and basket making. Presentations on bousillage ovens and traditional huts as well as Bayou Vermillionville archeology finds. Hands on activities for children including gourd rattles and pouch making. Sharing circles on Hunting and Fishing Practices. Presentations by all participating tribes, films including "Water on the Road" by John Sharp and "Native Waters: A Chitimacha Recollection." Storytelling, canoeing and Bayou Vermillion boat tours throughout the day.
