Extra Parking Available For UL-Southern Game

A record crowd of football fans is expected to descend upon Cajun Field beginning early tomorrow morning. It is the opening weekend for college football in Acadiana and fans are ready for the food, the fun, and the football.

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette Ragin Cajuns will host the Southern University Jaguars tomorrow night at 6pm. Fans wanting to be a part of the action will need to arrive much sooner since traffic is expected to be heavy and parking at premium.

Extra parking is being made available to handle the anticipated crowd but the spots around Cajun Field are already spoken for. The stadium parking is basically reserved for Ragin Cajun Athletic Foundation members. This parking is made available as a perk for being a member of the foundation.

There will be free parking behind the Hilton Garden Inn off Congress. Motorist are reminded the forecast does call for a significant chance of rain during the day on Saturday. The lot behind the Hilton is not paved, so keep that in mind.

Other parking options include the lots at South Louisiana Community College and along  St. Landry street near the former Lourdes Hospital. There will be shuttle bus service available from those areas beginning at 10am and running for one hour after the game is over. A paid parking lot will be available at the Lite Center on Cajundome Boulevard. This lot will open at 4pm and will remain open until it is full.
