You’re probably thinking, “What the heck?!” 

Well, I mean exactly that, an ice cream hangover. A close friend of mine came up with some pretty sound logic.

Ladies, when a fella breaks your heart you slip into what is commonly known as an “ice cream hangover”.

How this works is:

1. Heartbreak leads to an overdose of chocolate, ice cream, and chick-flicks with your “bff”.

2. After a couple of weeks of mourning and dwelling on your loss, you notice the few extra pounds you’ve put on due to the sweets and lack of motivation to do anything.

3. You join a gym, work your tail off to get back into that itsy-bitsy-teenie-weenie-yellow-polka-dotted bikini, to impress that next man on your radar.

So, is it safe to assume that most single women at the gym are on an ice cream hangover?

Hopefully, this guy you’re with or perusing is the one that doesn’t lead to another hangover.

Maybe we’re just being guys here, so please tell us if we’re wrong!

The long-awaited ‘Act of Valor’ stars real active-duty Navy SEALs in a fictionalized account of SEAL operations that takes audiences on an adrenaline-fueled, edge-of-their-seat journey.

In the suspense thriller ‘Gone,’ a woman who escaped from a kidnapper a year before discovers her sister has now been abducted by the same maniac.

‘Tyler Perry’s Good Deeds’ is the story of a man jolted out of his predictable routine when the chance to do a good deed finally sparks the courage to exchange the life that’s expected of him for the life he’s always really wanted.

And in ‘Wanderlust,’ Jennifer Aniston and Paul Rudd star as a stressed-out couple who move in to a hippie commune, where the change of perspective could cause more problems than it solves.

Just days before her new single ‘Good Girl’ is scheduled to be officially released, Carrie Underwood has given fans a sample of the until now unheard track from her upcoming fourth studio album. In a video released on her official website on Tuesday, Underwood takes fans inside the studio.

“I thought I’d give you guys a little teaser, cause hey, what are they gonna do to me?” the blonde country superstar asks before swinging the mixing room door open, releasing a flood of uptempo country goodness. The song seems cut from the mold of ‘Before He Cheats’ or ‘Undo It.’ It’s the bad girl Underwood that fans will hear from first.

“I cannot wait for you to hear the whole thing. It will be coming to a radio near you very soon. I hope you like it.” The still-untitled album is due in stores May 1.

Underwood’s website says the song will be released on Feb. 23. In fact, there is a ‘Good Girl’ countdown that is pecking away the seconds to midnight ET. It may be a very late night for the singer’s most loyal fans.

Country hitmaker Joe Nichols and his wife, Heather, are about to get a visit from the stork, according to People. Nichols, who released his record ‘It’s All Good’ at the beginning of November, has one 13-year-old daughter, Ashelyn, from a previous relationship, but is extremely excited to be expecting for the first time with his wife of more than four years.

“After trying to have a baby for so long, we are thrilled to announce that I am pregnant,” Heather says. And the excited father-to-be adds, “I have to give all the credit to my wife — she has been a trooper through all of this, and I am so happy.”

The ‘Gimme That Girl’ singer married his wife in September of 2007 with a Georgia wedding, and they have been talking for a couple of years now about taking the next step to become parents together. After quite a bit of trying, they’re finally able to realize that dream and look forward to the arrival of a new little Nichols.

The country singer released a ‘Greatest Hits’ album last January, and this year he’s slated to perform at the WYRK Taste of Country concert June 1 at the Coca-Cola Field in Buffalo, N.Y. along with Eric Church and Eli Young Band.

For the 18th consecutive year, master chef Wolfgang Puck has been selected by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to create the menu for the Governors Ball, the celebration immediately following the 84th Academy Awards® presentation on Oscar® Sunday, February 26, 2012. So just what does one serve to the richest, best looking and possibly Oscar toting Hollywood crowd? Well, as it turns out…over 50 dishes! The one that caught my attention though, was the traditional gold dusted chocolate Oscars. Awesome.Whatever the menu, you know Wolfgang is going to do it up right. Wish I was going to be there!

I think we’ll all be shouting “drill, baby, drill” soon as gas prices are expected to top $4 a gallon by the spring.

We just enjoyed the most expensive January ever. And keep in mind that January is typically a time when prices dip due to the colder weather that keeps people inside and post-holiday money-saving measures.

The average cost right now for regular unleaded gas is over $3.50 a gallon.

Yippee! Well, at least we don’t live in California or New York or Hawaii where experts expect prices to top $4.50!

It is President’s Day.  While we have such a great nation, we have multiple people to thank for their continued safety and protection!  Our soldiers, military, Navy, Army, Special forces, Troops (can’t name them all) are the key to our Countries success.

If this doesn’t make your heart smile, close this window out, and re-open it until it does.  Something about the connection of kids and their parents just makes us want to be a parent.  Happy President’s Day, and hug your kids.

OK, we get to ride in several parades throughout the year that require us to arm ourselves with hundreds of dollars of the shiny, beautiful, yet somewhat useless, baubles. There is a definite art to getting READY to throw the beads. Bust open the box, then the plastic bag, and then hang the beads within easy reach. Robert Burck, known worldwide as The Naked Cowboy-a Times Square street performer who appears in little more than boots, a cowboy hat and underwear (never boxers, always briefs), is saddling up for a White House run. Saddling up, I like that. Evidently there are over 300 candidates for President of the United States right now. Wow.

I might just have to vote for the naked Cowboy-I mean, he obviously loves country music! Yee Haw!

NBC’s hit musical drama ‘Smash’ tells the story of what it takes to make it in a Broadway show, and while country music is in a different genre altogether, the show and its stars have been giving some pretty big nods to the sound. Last Monday (Feb. 13), we saw actress Megan Hilty’s character Ivy offer up a slowed-down cover of Carrie Underwood‘s ‘Crazy Dreams.’ Tonight, according to mjsbigblog, we can expect to see another star performing a karaoke version of Gretchen Wilson‘s ‘Redneck Woman.’

This time the character going country is Katharine McPhee‘s Karen, who heads back home to Iowa for a baby shower. While there, she tests her pipes at a karaoke bar, putting her spin on the hit country song and showcasing her killer vocal abilities.

Wearing a plum dress and some kind of a baby shower necklace, McPhee’s character takes the mic in the clip below and never looks back. Though she seems laid back and almost hesitant at the beginning, like she doesn’t quite know all the words, but her rowdy friends are making her try. But with the natural choreography that quickly ensues and the pure charisma of Karen’s performance, it seems she does know the words after all.

Kicking off her shoes while singing the like “I’ll stand barefooted in my own front yard / With a baby on my hip,” Karen brings the house down and delivers a fun-loving performance.

For an L.A.-born pop singer, McPhee is pretty impressive in her country twang and her uninhibited ability to belt out the lyrics to a song called ‘Redneck Woman.’ Catch this clip on tonight’s episode (Feb. 20) of ‘Smash,’ which airs at 10 PM ET.

Good news for Wade Hayes, who is continuing his chemo treatment after being diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer in December. The ‘Old Enough to Know Better’ and ‘I’m Still Dancin’ With You’ singer is back on his feet, doing some light working out and even getting ready to tackle the world of songwriting this week.

Hayes’ Facebook admin team gave fans an honest update last week that expressed the reality of the ups and downs the singer continues to face on a daily basis. “He says he’s doing OK,” posted Helen, the head of the singer’s fan club. “The first chemo [treatment] – 4 weeks ago – kicked him pretty hard, but the second one wasn’t so bad. He has his third one today. He was on his way to workout – the doctor cleared him to work with light weights. He’s trying to gain back some of the considerable weight he’s lost. He’s working on his music – has a writing appointment next week – is planning to put out another album.

“He’s bolstered by your prayers and support [and] is depending on them,” Helen continued. “He especially appreciates the encouraging messages he’s received from those who’ve gone through this same ordeal.”

Hayes underwent an extremely successful surgery in December, and began his six months of chemo soon after recovering from his stint in the hospital. All of us at Taste of Country continue to send our best and well wishes to Wade during this trying time.

Le Festival de Mardi Gras à Lafayette's Facebook

Due to the inclement weather on Saturday, the Children’s Parade in Lafayette was postponed. Good news in case you have not heard, it’s been rescheduled!

Tonight at 6pm, the Children’s Parade will begin at the courthouse in downtown Lafayette.

Now you may be wondering, “what about the Queen’s Parade?” Worry not, that parade will roll at the same time. It will follow its normal route which begins at Pontiac Point. So, basically, you will be enjoying two parades almost back-to-back tonight!

And don’t forget about the fun at Cajun Field for Le Festival de Mardi Gras à Lafayette. The My Rouses Soundstage will be rockin’ with music by Louisiana Kids, Dikki Du, Side Show, Lafayette’s Bayou Boys and Wayne Toups & Zydecajun. The Louisiana Lottery Middway is open from noon-midnight with “Family Day” going on where you can pay $25 and ride all you want from 12pm-6pm.
