Florida Woman Arrested For Letting 7-Year-Old Son Walk To The Park Alone [Video]

A Florida Mother was arrested the other day for allowing her 7-year-old son to walk to the park and play by himself. The park is about a 15 minute walk from his house. She was charged with child neglect. The police say there are ‘Numerous Sex Offenders” in the area, and the Mom says her son Dominique is mature enough to make the half mile walk by himself.

This is a tough one. When I a kid, the Summer rules were go outside and play, don’t do anything stupid, and make sure your butt is home before the sun goes down. You can say things were different then, but honestly, were they really? I’m also the Father of a 7-year-old, and I can honestly say I would never let him walk a half a mile away to go to the park. That doesn’t mean I think this lady should have been arrested for it though.

This is really a tough one. What do YOU think? Do you think she’s wrong? Should she have gone to jail? Has society become too touchy and scared? Am I asking too many questions?
