A former head football coach at two different SEC schools is considering putting his hat into the political world by making a gubernatorial run.

Tommy Tuberville, who was the head coach at Ole Miss from 1995-1998, before leaving to become the head coach at Auburn from 1999-2008, is toying with the idea of running for governor of Alabama in 2018.

Most recently the head coach at Cincinnati for the last four seasons, Tuberville guided Auburn to an 85-40 record in ten seasons, including a six-game win streak over state rival Alabama from 2002-2007.

The 62-year old Tuberville, who also coach at Texas Tech from 2010-2012, has a 159-99 career coaching record, over 21 years.

Before leaving Ole Miss to take the Auburn job following the 1998 season Tuberville said; "They’ll have to carry me out of here in a pine box," in reference to not leaving to coach at another school. Two days after he made that now infamous statement, it was announced that he was departing for Auburn.

A native of Camden, Arkansas, and a member of that state's Hall of Fame, Tuberville is expected to make a decision on whether or nor to make the run for governor within the next couple of weeks.
