We just found a way for your 2020 to get a whole lot better. Just for today, you can make a difference in your life, and who doesn't want that? Millions of Americans are putting down their cigarettes today and hoping that this one day will turn into a lifetime of being a non-smoker.

The third Thursday of November could be the first day of the rest of your life if you are one of the 32.4 million people who still smoke cigarettes. Since 1977, the annual Great American Smokeout, sponsored by the American Cancer Society, has been giving a helping hand to people who are trying to quit. The whole premise of the day is to challenge people to quit for just one day, or use that day to make a plan to quit.

This year the Great American Smokeout is today, Thursday, November 19, and there is a ton of support nationwide, and locally, for you to get motivated. And the American Cancer Society even has a cancer hotline if you need help, 1-800-227-2345. They have resources and tools available for download, and, more importantly, people to talk to who can get you started on your non-smoking journey. And honestly, you can probably find some folks that you know personally who used to smoke, and have quit, to be your cheerleaders for today. I'm not going to preach, because I was a smoker at one time myself. Good luck, y'all, I have confidence in you!
