This week the Morton Salt "Shaking Out the Good Stuff" spotlight shines on a project that has been a part of Acadiana's holiday season for many years now. It's Home for the Holidays and it's a charitable mission of the Acadian Home Builders Association.

The AHBA and its members partner together to build a home. They then sell raffle tickets to raise funds and give the home away. The feature home for this year's giveaway is located in the Reserve at Woodlake. The home offers a 2,751-square-foot floor plan in a two-story farmhouse-style home.

The amenities of the home include four bedrooms and three and one-half baths. There is a study and what is referred to as a bonus room. The appliances in the home are top-of-the-line and the countertops are custom quartz situated around custom countertops too.

There is also a large back patio that includes an outdoor kitchen and a cozy outdoor fireplace. In other words, the property built by Blake Romero and Bobby Vannoy of Legendary Contractors is a showplace. And this showplace can be your new home for the low price of $100 bucks.

Who are the Benefactors of Home for the Holidays in Acadiana?

When you "shake out the good stuff" and purchase a Home for the Holidays ticket you are supporting four amazing charitable organizations in Acadiana. Those organizations are Faith House, Healing House, Lafayette Habitat for Humanity, and Foster the Love Louisiana.

Each of these organizations plays a key role in making and keeping our community a great place to live and work. And since 2005 organizations such as those we've listed have benefited from the hard work and support of Home for the Holidays. It is estimated the program has given back more than 2.7 million dollars to our community.

The AHBA has also used money from this project to fund scholarships for deserving students at the University of Louisiana too. It's one more way that we can be sure that the future builders in Acadiana will have a solid footing and foundation to grow on as well.

The deadline to secure your ticket is Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at Midnight. The drawing will take place on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, as part of the KATC 6 p.m. newscast. Tickets may be purchased online using a major credit card by following this link.
