According to a report from WVUE in New Orleans, Louisiana spent over 16 million dollars in 2014 of our hard earned cash on property they can't find or even prove exists.

Looking at this official list the state calls "Unlocated" you'll see bathtubs, a mannequin training doll, computers and even sleeper chairs. All of these items, including THOUSANDS of others are nowhere to be found. What's worse, is that this sort of unchecked and unaccounted for spending looks like it's on a sharp increase.

This graphic from WVUE shows the increase of "Missing Inventory" over the past few years.

From WVUE -

Last year the state lost at least 214 projectors, 200 printers and 79 Promethean electronic whiteboards. Those are whiteboards are pricey, too – those 79 cost taxpayers $309,753 when they were purchased.

All of this wasteful spending despite the fact that Louisiana government is going through it's 7th year of budget cuts.

Good people have lost jobs over the past seven years, and the state has OVER $16,000,000 of "Unlocated" spending in just 2014 ALONE.

Mad yet?

I'm not saying I think the computers, sleeper chairs, bathtubs and whatever else is on the list of state purchases aren't warranted, justifiable purchases. I mean, 95% of the items probably aren't warranted, but whatever. All I know is that most of the things I buy with my money, I can show you where they are. We're only talking about ONE YEAR, not asking the state to find things from 15 years ago.

Not sure about you, but I would be fired so fast I wouldn't know what hit me.
