If you're looking to get your Friday night live music fix on and don't want to dance between the raindrops downtown you might want to check out something new at The District on Johnston Street in Lafayette. It's Jazz Alley at The District and tonight the doors will open on what organizers hope will become an Acadiana live music tradition.

The District has hosted some of the biggest names in country music, rock and roll, soul, hip-hop and R&B but tonight the massive venue will be transformed into an intimate Jazz Club. The inaugural on stage performers will be J.B. Saax and The Band. This Acadiana jazz ensemble has gained quite a bit of notoriety and following with their regular Jazz Night performances at The Brass Room.

The group has also been featured in performances at Festival International and Paragon Casino. Jeremy Benoit, the J.B. of the J.B. Saax, is fast making a name for himself among jazz lovers in South Louisiana. His endearing onstage charm matches the passion in which he articulates his musical presence. His style runs the  gamut of sultry blues, smooth jazz and funk  to New Orleans sass. He is just at home with a breathless version of a Kenny G hit as he is scorching a classic from Earth, Wind, and Fire.

Doors for tonight's inaugural performance in Jazz Alley at The District will open at 7pm. Hors d'oeures will be served as well as a special cocktail menu and wine. There are several ticket options for tonight's performance.  Individual ticket prices are $10. Premium reserved and reserved tables of four are also available. Jazz Alley at The District is a smoke free joint.
