The chasm between Taylor Swift and Kanye West has been opened again following the release of the rapper's new The Life of Pablo album via a listening party on Thursday night, (Feb. 11). The record includes a song titled “Famous" that contains lyrics about Swift.

"For all my Southside n----s who will know me best / I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why, I made that b--- famous / God damn / I made that b--- famous,” West sings.

While TMZ reports that West sought Swift’s blessing before releasing the song and that she gave him the go-ahead, Swift’s publicist has since released a statement saying that is not true. The country-pop singer was contacted by West about promoting the song via Twitter, but she declined based on its misogynistic content.

"Taylor was never made aware of the actual lyric, 'I made that b--- famous,’” a rep for Swift explains.

The bold lyrics are a reference to West’s infamous interruption of Swift’s acceptance speech at the 2009 MTV VMAs, which had recently become water under the bridge.

“I feel like I wasn’t ready to be friends with [West] until I felt like he had some sort of respect for me, and he wasn’t ready to be friends with me until he had some sort of respect for me,” Swift told Vanity Fair last year, “so it was the same issue, and we both reached the same place at the same time.”

Now the drama is back in circulation, as Swift’s friends — including model Gigi Hadid and actress Jaime King — leap her defense, as well as her brother Austin, who posted an Instagram video throwing away a pair of shoes from West’s Yeezy fashion line.

Swift herself has not personally addressed the issue via social media yet. West’s album was streamed live via Tidal to 20 million listeners during the Yeezy fashion show that accompanied the release at Madison Square Garden.
